Peter Bonetti was an English footballer who played as a goalkeeper. He was born on September 27, 1941, in Putney, London, England. Bonetti spent the majority of his career at Chelsea, making over 700 appearances for the club between 1960 and 1979.
Bonetti was known for his agility, reflexes, and shot-stopping abilities, earning him the nickname "The Cat." He was a key player for Chelsea during the 1960s and 1970s, helping the team win the FA Cup in 1970 and the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup in 1971.
Bonetti also earned seven caps for the England national team between 1966 and 1970. He was part of the squad that won the 1966 FIFA World Cup, although he did not make an appearance in the tournament.
After retiring from professional football, Bonetti worked as a goalkeeping coach and pundit. He was inducted into the English Football Hall of Fame in 2003. Bonetti passed away on April 12, 2020, at the age of 78.
